This Amazingly Competitive Landscape
LAKEVILLE, CT — There was a time a few years ago, before mandated changes to mortality tables and reserve requirements, where Lincoln Financial’s MoneyGuard series dominated the competitive landscape. Is here a dominant carrier still standing? The answer is probably no, as the “most competitive” is now contingent on a host of variables such as gender, partner status, smoking status, age, single or multiple pay premium preference. Two other variables are of vital import. While, all things being equal, indemnity is more user friendly than reimbursement, often all things are not equal. Is a higher reimbursement benefit model “better” than a lower indemnity model? How does one quantify that? Is it quantifiable and might bthe client resort to “gut” wisdom?
And speaking of which, is there a clear preference for indemnity entering the due diligence process? There have been times when a valid case scan be made for using a home health agency. First, at claim time, they can submit billing paperwork for you. And when a winter storm hits, or a car breaks down, an agency is more likely to be able to send a different individual to the home .
In all but rate instances I feel it incumbent to check with several company options before making an insurance company recommendation. Frankly is nice to feel confident that one is doing their best to meet client needs and objectives. The wrong choice can cost my client hundreds of thousands of dollars.
